What you can expect leading up the 121st Boston Marathon
Now that you`re entered in the 2017 Boston Marathon, what can you expect next? The B.A.A. has put together a timeline for what to look for in the coming months. This includes when you can submit improved qualifying times, when you can expect your starting wave and corral assignment, and other important dates to remember.

Registrations open January 11 and 18
Since 2009, the B.A.A. 5K has helped kick off Boston Marathon weekend in grand style. On Saturday, April 15, join 10,000 participants on the roads of downtown Boston for this fast and fun event that celebrates spring and the Boston Marathon.
The course, which begins on Charles Street between Boston Common and the Boston Public Garden, is a scenic tour of the Back Bay neighborhood, taking participants down Boylston Street and across the Boston Marathon finish line. Have family in town to cheer you on Marathon Monday? They can join in the fun of Marathon weekend by running the B.A.A. 5K!
Registration for the B.A.A. 5K opens on January 18 at 10:00 a.m. ET exclusively on the B.A.A.`s website, www.baa.org. The entry fee is $55, and the race is limited to the first 10,000 entrants.

B.A.A. DISTANCE MEDLEY
Guaranteed entry for the B.A.A. 5K can be obtained by registering for the 2017 B.A.A. Distance Medley, a three-race series that includes the B.A.A. 5K, the B.A.A. 10K on June 25, and the B.A.A. Half Marathon on October 8. Registration for the B.A.A. Distance Medley series opens on Wednesday, January 11 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The registration fee is $225.

SIX CHAMPIONS RETURN FOR 2017 BOSTON MARATHON
A total of six Boston Marathon champions will aim for their second titles on Patriots` Day, led by defending champions Atsede Baysa and Lemi Berhanu Hayle of Ethiopia. In 2016, Baysa and Hayle ran to triumphant wins down Boylston Street, and will try to replicate the feat in 2017.

Additional champions returning next April include 2015 winner Caroline Rotich of Kenya; course record holder and 2014 champion Buzunesh Deba of Ethiopia; fellow 2014 winner and 2004 Olympic Marathon silver medalist Meb Keflezighi of the United States; and 2012 Kenyan champion Wesley Korir.
TOP AMERICANS ANNOUNCED FOR BOSTON
Olympic medalists Galen Rupp, Shalane Flanagan, and Meb Keflezighi Heading to Boston
Just before the New Year, John Hancock Financial announced the U.S. Elite Team for the 2017 Boston Marathon. Arguably the deepest American field in race history, a slew of American stars will line up in Hopkinton on April 17.
Among the announced contenders are 2014 champion Meb Keflezighi, four-time Olympian Shalane Flanagan, two-time Olympic medalist Galen Rupp, and 2016 Olympians Desiree Linden and Jared Ward. Four-time Olympian Abdi Abdirahman, third place at last year`s New York City Marathon, is also set to run.

| |BOSTON MARATHON CLINIC SERIES
Learn from our experts as you prepare for April
Four clinics will be offered prior to the 2017 Boston Marathon, and will be held at Boston Marathon adidas RunBase, just steps from the finish line on Boylston Street.
Upcoming dates are January 9, February 6, March 6, and April 3.
NEXT CLINIC: The next clinic in the 2017 Boston Marathon Clinic series - focusing on how optimal nutrition relates to your training schedule, and the best ways to fuel for specific workouts - will be held on Monday, January 9 at 6:00 p.m. ET. RSVP now! Space is limited.
All clinics begin at 6:00 p.m. ET. Parking is available nearby at the Garage at 100 Clarendon. The parking rate is $10 after 5:00 p.m.
Designed to help you train to run your best race, the clinics are free and open to officially registered participants in the 2017 Boston Marathon and their guests. Boston Marathon adidas RunBase is an adidas-exclusive experience that showcases the history of the Boston Marathon 52 weeks a year. It is located at 855 Boylston Street in Boston.
